DCCR 1 – Undertake corrective maintenance of the DC Conductor Rail

Course Summary

This course is designed to train persons who are responsible for undertaking the basic maintenance of the conductor rail equipment (CRE) and its associated components as per their duties as an operative on Network Rail Infrastructure, as aligned to NR/L2/ELP/CTM015_001.

This competency is mandatory for persons working on the conductor rail come August 2022, as this is when the prior dispensation letter expires. This includes hand back duties / gauging, potting, ramping etc.

Key Aims

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the skills and underpinning knowledge required to undertake their duties in line with the associated competence.

The key aims for Direct Current Conductor Rail (Basic Maintenance) are

To develop a persons’ understanding of:

o Safety risks

o DCCR– installation, repair and replacement

o Ramps

o Conductor rail joints

o Anchors

o Insulators

o Guard boarding and shrouding

Delegates:

  1. Must be a minimum age of 18.
  2. Must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card endorsed with PTS & PTS DCCR Working Near or Adjacent to the DC Conductor Rail
  3. Must hold Manual Handling (HSE T9)
  4. Must hold First Aid for Electrical Accidents (HSE T32)
  5. Must meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Medical Fitness Level 1.
  6. Must have a good level of literacy to meet Entry Qualifications.
  7. Must meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
  8. Have all required training that is associated to the competence (Iron man usage, Lifting Jacks, portable plant)

 

Post-training Requirements:

Provided the delegate achieves competence, Sentinel shall be updated, and the skills added to the delegate’s Sentinel Record.

Additionally, the delegates’ company’s competence management system shall be updated to reflect successful completion of this training event.

Currently this course will need a recertification every 50 years. There are no assessment criteria yet been disclosed.

DCCR 2 – Undertake corrective maintenance of the DC Conductor Rail’s Associated Components

Course Summary

This course is designed to train persons who are responsible for undertaking the advanced maintenance of the conductor rail equipment (CRE) and its associated components including the interpretation of design specifications and drawings as per their duties as a team leader on Network Rail Infrastructure, as aligned to NR/L2/ELP/CTM015_002.

This competency is mandatory for persons working on the conductor rail come August 2022, as this is when the prior dispensation letter expires. This includes hand back duties / gauging, potting, ramping etc.

Key Aims

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the skills and underpinning knowledge required to undertake their duties in line with the associated capability.

The key aims for Direct Current Conductor Rail (Advanced Maintenance) are;

To develop a persons’ understanding of:

o Safety risks

o DCCR– installation, repair and replacement

o Ramps

o Conductor rail joints

o Anchors

o Insulators

o Guard boarding and shrouding

Delegates:

  1. Must be a minimum age of 18.
  2. Must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card endorsed with PTS & PTS DCCR Working Near or Adjacent to the DC Conductor Rail
  3. Must hold DCCR 01
  4. Must hold Manual Handling (HSE T9)
  5. Must hold First Aid for Electrical Accidents (HSE T32)
  6. Must meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Medical Fitness Level 1.
  7. Must have a good level of literacy to meet Entry Qualifications.
  8. Must meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
  9. Have all required training that is associated to the competence (Iron man usage, Lifting Jacks, portable plant, Rail crow / ramper, abrasive wheels)

 

Post-training Requirements:

Delegates will be awarded level 2 competence following this training event upon successful completion of both the written and practical assessments.

Provided the delegate achieves competence, Sentinel shall be updated and the skills added to the delegate’s Sentinel Record.

Additionally, the delegates’ company’s competence management system shall be updated to reflect successful completion of this training event.

Currently there is a requirement for the Level 2 competency to upgraded to Level 3. This will be done via the training provider (Richardson Rail)

This competency needs a recertification every 5 years.
